DriveSmart (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a driver-education platform operated by Software Ladders. This Privacy Policy applies to our mobile apps, website and admin portal (together, the “Service”).

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Account details — name, email address, phone number, password, and your country/region.
• Learner profile — licence category and details you choose to add, and your learning preferences.
• Payment details — processed by our payment partners (e.g. M-Pesa, card processors). We do not store full card numbers.
• Communications — messages you send us through the contact form, email or WhatsApp.

Information collected automatically

• Learning activity — lessons viewed, exam scores, hazard-perception results, certificates earned.
• Device & usage data — device type, app version, and basic analytics to keep the Service reliable.

2. How we use your information

• To provide lessons, exams, simulations, certificates and progress tracking.
• To personalise content to your country and licence type.
• To process payments and manage your subscription or one-time access.
• To issue and verify certificates, including their public verification number.
• To send you service messages, refresher and renewal reminders (you can opt out of non-essential messages).
• To improve, secure and support the Service.

3. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

• Service providers that host, process payments for, or support the Service, under confidentiality obligations.
• Driving schools — if you enrol through a partner school, your progress and results may be shared with that school.
• Authorities where required by law or to protect our rights and users’ safety.

4. Certificate verification

Certificates carry a unique verification number and QR code so that employers and schools can confirm they are genuine. When a certificate is verified, we display the holder’s name, course, score and issue date associated with that number.

5. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account at any time.

6. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.

8. Children

The Service is intended for users who are legally eligible to begin driver training in their country. We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age without appropriate consent.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the “Effective date” above. Significant changes will be notified in the app or by email.
